Division Finals recap

The Bozeman Climbing Team looked good and climbed even better at the USAClimbing Division 1 Finals on June 15 & 16 at Momentum Climbing Gym in Sandy, Utah. 9 BCT members competed against 175 other climbers from as far as Anchorage, AK, and Santa Cruz, CA. Walter Funke and Cale Schwarze, both in the Male Youth B category, finished in the top 6 and received an invitation to the National Championships in July.

Canada 2008!

The plans for the Team Canada trip are being finalized. The dates are set at Sunday, July 26 through Sunday, August 11. We will start our journey by heading first to Canmore, Alberta. The rest of the agenda is to be determined. There are 9 spaces available-Team seniority will establish priority. Trip participants must be solid 5.10 sport leaders. You must have flawless belay and rappel skills and be experienced in building belay anchor systems. Trip cost is $900. Participants will need additional spending money. A $250 deposit will be due by July 2. Please contact me with specific questions.

BCT 2008 Summer Schedule

Our Summer Schedule starts Wednesday, June 18 and will operate as follows:

Sundays 4 PM to dusk: Advanced leading and bouldering project session.

This session is geared for climbers sufficient in leading, projecting, and redpointing 5.10 and up. We might occasionally opt for a bouldering session. Cost: $25, minimum 4 participants. A $10 fuel surcharge may be added for extended drives.

Tuesday 9 AM to 3PM: Intermediate outdoors

Primarily geared for D-Team members who are working on their lead technique and rope skills. $40, minimum 3 participants. This group will maintain a 4-1 climber to instructor ration.

Wednesday 4 PM to dusk: Advanced leading and bouldering project session. Same as above.

BCT is Big Sky Region Team Champion again!

The Bozeman Climbing Team secured their second Region Team Champion honors in as many years with an impressive finish at the Region Finals at Spire. Chandler Leachman and Inge Perkins also recieved Big Sky Region MVP honors. All of the region award winners are listed at our region webpage.

The Big Sky Region Final was awesome! Thanks for all of the parent help. The Team is so blessed to have such a great support crew. From judging, belaying, photographing, grilling, managing...it all made for a great day! Please offer your gratitude to Jeff and Meg at Spire for hosting it all. Congrats to our finalists, who get an invite to the Division 1 finals at Momentum in Sandy, UT on June 14 and 15.
